How long can I stay in Schengen / Europe?

Citizens of many countries (including United Kingdom, United States and Canada) can usually travel to the European Schengen zone for up to 90 days in a 180-day period.

The countries in the Schengen area are:

Austria, Belgium, Croatia, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, and Switzerland.

Your total stay in the Schengen area must be no more than 90 days in every 180 days. It does not matter how many countries you visit. The 180-day period keeps ‘rolling’. Partial days where you travel into or out of the Schengen zone count as a full day in your 90 day allowance.

How to use the Schengen Calendar Calculator

We recommend making a new calendar in Google Calendar, and adding full day events to it for each trip when you will be in the Schengen zone.

Go to "Settings and Sharing" for your new calendar, and tick the box to "Make available to public", then scroll down to find the "Public address in iCal format". Copy this public address and paste it in the form below.

Total days for trips started in 2023: 175 days
